We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Information Technology Department as a Technical Specialist – Networking.

 

SUMMARY: As a Technical Specialist – Networking, you will be responsible for the day-to-day support of the end user community including Network Administration, utilizing Cisco technologies, and the integration of VoIP, utilizing Mitel technologies. You will provide support for all users experiencing problems with desktop hardware, software and other computer related technology issues and inquiries. You will be responsible for handling problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution and follow-up for routine user problems. You will also ensure that all enterprise applications are properly configured, administered and performing as required for operational expectations.

Responsibilities for this position will include Customer Support, VoIP/SIP and Network Administration.  The following is a breakdown of time spent on job duties:

  • 20% - Study, recommend, implement, report, and monitor solutions based around Mitel’s VoIP/SIP technologies.
  • 20% - Study, recommend, implement, report, and monitor solutions based around Cisco’s networking technologies.
  • 60% - Provide great customer service while recording and resolving end-users support requests.

Some Responsibilities Include:

  • Analyze, implement, and maintain VoIP configurations around Mitel telecommunications platforms.
  • Assist in design, implementation, administration, and maintenance of the enterprise network.
  • Responsible for maintaining service availability of mission critical services ensuring 24/7 up-time on network equipment.
  • Display advanced knowledge and understanding of networking protocols and technologies such as Routing, Switching, Wireless and Security.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor’s degree with at least 15 semester hours in computer science, computer information systems, or closely related data processing course work. Relevant work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the formal education requirement.

  • Basic understanding of Mitel phone systems using route lists, patterns, hunt groups, and ACDs.
  • Basic understanding of VoIP protocols and codecs such as SIP, RTP, T.38, G.711, G.729, and H.323.
  • Has a solid understanding of TCP/IP protocols and troubleshooting experience using Wireshark, Snoop, Tcpdump, and Netflow.
  • Has a solid understanding of QoS/CoS policies and priority queuing.
  • Basic understanding of enterprise networking architectures, routing, switching, and firewalls.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts such as IP SLA, OSPF, ACL, NAT/PAT, VCP, and VLAN.
